Tasks of the College Council Secretariat

Duties of the College Council – College of Law, Al-Hamdaniya University

The College Council is the highest academic and administrative authority in the College of Law. It manages the college’s affairs in accordance with the Law of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the instructions of the University Presidency. The Council aims to fulfill the college’s mission of preparing academically and professionally distinguished legal cadres.

First: Academic Duties

  1. Establishing the general policy for education and scientific research in the college in line with the university’s directives.
  2. Proposing the creation of new academic departments or amendments to curricula in accordance with modern legal developments.
  3. Approving annual study plans and curricula submitted by the academic departments.
  4. Following up on the educational process and examinations in the various departments.
  5. Ratifying students’ results and submitting them to the University Presidency for official approval.
  1. Reviewing faculty promotion applications and providing recommendations.
  1. Encouraging scientific research and holding legal seminars and conferences.

Second: Administrative and Organizational Duties

  1. Discussing periodic reports submitted by department heads and the assistant deans.
  1. Regulating the affairs of faculty members and employees, and monitoring their performance and discipline.
  1. Considering student-related issues (such as transfers, deferments, warnings, and disciplinary actions).
  1. Proposing the formation of permanent and temporary committees within the college.
  1. Following up on the implementation of previous Council decisions and ensuring they are applied by the concerned parties.

Third: Financial Duties

  1. Discussing and approving the college’s annual financial plan before submitting it to the University Presidency.
  2. Monitoring the disbursement of financial allocations in accordance with applicable regulations.
  1. Proposing development projects that contribute to improving the educational and service environment.

Fourth: Social Duties and External Relations

  1. Strengthening cooperation with judicial and legal institutions inside and outside the university.
  1. Supporting legal and cultural student activities that promote the values of justice and the rule of law.
  1. Participating in community programs aimed at spreading legal awareness and public education.

Fifth: Role of the College Council Secretary

  1. Preparing the agenda of meetings in coordination with the Dean.
  1. Recording meeting minutes and preserving them in official records.
  1. Following up on the implementation of Council decisions after approval.
