Under the auspices of the President of the University of Al-Hamdaniya, Professor Dr. Nashat Mubarak Saliwa, and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Law, Professor Dr. Anas Mahmoud Khalaf, the Women’s Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a scientific workshop on Sunday, March 15, 2026, titled “Women’s Rights in Islamic Sharia.” This workshop is part of the activities implementing the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security (2025–2030), featuring Assistant Lecturer Mustafa Katheer Saeed, a specialist in Islamic Jurisprudence, as the keynote speaker, and moderated by Ms. Aya Shalan Mal Allah, Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit.

The workshop focused on highlighting the fundamental status granted to women by Islamic Sharia as a primary pillar of society, reviewing various civil and economic rights, most notably the right to ownership and independent financial liability which allows women to manage their assets without guardianship. Furthermore, the session addressed the close link between jurisprudential rulings and the objectives of the Third National Action Plan by emphasizing the provision of legal and social protection for women and debunking misconceptions that conflate inherited traditions with the equitable essence of Sharia. It concluded by emphasizing the importance of scientific and practical empowerment for women to participate effectively in shaping a secure and stable future, while enhancing awareness of the Sharia-guaranteed safeguards that preserve women’s dignity across all familial and social environments.
