Under the patronage of the President of the University of Al-Hamdaniya, Professor Dr. Nashat Mubarak Saliwa, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Anas Mahmoud Khalaf Al-Jubouri, Dean of the College of Law, the College of Law—in cooperation with the College of Education for Pure Sciences (Department of Life Sciences)—organized a specialized workshop titled “The Benefit of Bees to Plants” on Sunday, May 3, 2026.

The workshop, featuring lectures by Assistant Lecturer Shihab Ahmed Hussein and Assistant Lecturer Moataz Faisal Abbas, addressed the pivotal role and the close link between bees and the sustainability of vegetation cover. It clarified how bees represent the primary engine for the natural pollination process, ensuring plant reproduction and the continuity of their life cycle. The lecturers explained that the movement of bees between flowers facilitates the transfer of pollen, leading to the production of high-quality fruits and seeds, which directly impacts agricultural abundance and the achievement of food security.

The workshop also reviewed the environmental dimensions of this relationship, explaining that protecting bees goes beyond preserving a specific insect species to protecting entire biodiversity, as a decline in bee populations threatens food chains and leads to an imbalance in the natural order.

In conclusion, the workshop emphasized the importance of unifying academic and legal efforts to enact legislation that protects the environment from harmful practices threatening bee life, such as the excessive use of pesticides, to ensure the sustainability of this vital ecosystem for future generations.
